Between the dehydrating flights, airport food, packing, re- packing, mindless snacking, and often being irregular :/ I have made it a necessity to not let travel, side swipe my health goals.
Here are my 6 favorite travel friendly items! These help me stay on top of my game and feeling my best when I’m away from home and out of my regular routine.
1. Travel Snacks
I’m a huge snacker! I can go from zero to HANGRY real quick. And I don’t know about you, but the snacks on the plane are not appealing to me at all. They’re both unsatisfying and unhealthy. Between the salt & gluten field pretzels or the sugar and oil filled cookies, I think ill pass!
Great options to keep in my carry on:
-Low sugar, protein bars -Raw, unsalted nuts & seeds -Turkey jerky sticks -A block of super dark chocolate (to keep my sweet tooth satisfied)
2. Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes
These come in handy on flights when I need to freshen up. I love keeping Burts Bees Makeup wipes in my bag, so I can just pull them out and wipe off my makeup, no fuss. Their wipes are gentle on my skin, and don’t contain any hormone disrupting chemicals, parabens, sulfites or SLS.
3. Booty Band
I enjoy working out. Yes even on holiday. It gives me energy and keeps my head clear. This lightweight and compact apparatus is so versatile, I can use it for a full body workout wherever I am. I’ll just throw on a YouTube video and follow along. Plus it comes in handy when I don’t have enough space to pack extra workout gear.
4. Digestive Enzymes
Flying can wreck havoc on your digestion, as does eating out every meal. When I’m traveling, sometimes there’s no other option than to eat out, so I’ll always make sure I keep a bottle of digestive enzymes in my bag. I take 2 when I have a meal that I know is going to be harder to digest. Digestive enzymes, assist in breaking down the food you eat and extracting the nutrients from it for your body to use.
5. Adaptogens
Travel can be pretty stressful on the body. Add in the lack of sleep that comes with the time differences, exposure to new environments and new bacteria. You best believe I’ll be doing what I can to keep my immune system strong. (Because who likes to be sick on holiday)
I love taking travel packs of adaptogens to add to my coffee or matcha each day to make sure I’m feeling my best. Chaga is great for the immune system and is full of antioxidants,
Cordyceps helps with stamina and gives me long lasting energy and Reishi is calming and helps me unwind at the end of a full day.
6. Water Bottle
Hydration is key for keeping my digestion moving and skin from drying out when traveling. I hate being caught without water and subjected to paying $6 for a plastic bottle. To ensure im never without, ill take my huge water bottle with me in my carry on and find a place to fill up once we’re through TSA then take it with me when we’re out and about sight-seeing.
